When You Want Mastery Faster Than God Does

The Daily CHEW™

Moving God’s Love From Head to Heart for Christian Professionals

You care about excellence. You want to be great at the work God has entrusted to you. But some days the gap between where you are and where you hoped to be feels like a verdict. You look at others in your field and think, “They’re already there. What is wrong with me?”

Clarity: The quiet lie underneath that pressure is simple: “If I were really called and loved by God, I’d be further along by now.”

Hear: Scripture tells a different story: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10, ESV) God is not scrambling to keep up with your career. He prepared the work and He is also shaping the craftsman.

Exchange: If I really believed God’s love is patiently committed to shaping me over years, not proving me in minutes, how would that change what I’m feeling and what I’m believing about God, myself, and others in this gap?

Walk (30–90 seconds): Today, choose one small, concrete act of mastery in your role that no one will applaud—a sentence you sharpen, a conversation you prepare for well, a system you improve by 1%. Do it explicitly as an act of worship, trusting that God is as interested in forming the craftsman as He is in finishing the project. If this is the only thing you do from this CHEW today, it is enough.

With you on the journey,
Ryan

If you had to put this into one sentence for today, what would you say God is inviting you to rest in or return to?

What is one way God’s love is inviting you to grow as a leader, not just feel better, in this area?
