The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals
Every Christian knows the sting of self-sabotage—when you’re on the brink of finishing a project, embracing a new opportunity, or stepping up in ministry, and suddenly, you stall. Procrastination, last-minute “emergencies,” self-doubt, or outright rebellion appear like clockwork. Why do we do this, especially when we genuinely want to honor God?
Gospel Insight: Sabotage Thrives When Performance Defines You—Freedom Grows When You Steward God’s Gifts
Self-sabotage flourishes when your performance is about you—proving your worth, hiding from shame, or controlling outcomes. If every project is a referendum on your value, every step forward is risky. Failure threatens your identity; success feels like pressure. Sabotage (whether conscious or not) feels safer than risking exposure or disappointment (Romans 7:15–24; Galatians 1:10).
But when you see each opportunity as a gift from God to be stewarded—not a measure of worth—everything changes. Work and calling become worship and faithfulness, not a verdict. Pride melts, pressure lifts, and sabotage loses its grip.
Let’s CHEW on this truth.
CHEW On This™ in 3–5 Minutes
Confess (C):
Father, I confess that I’ve let performance become about proving myself. My fear and pride lead me to sabotage the very things You’ve entrusted to me. Forgive me and reset my heart for stewardship, not self-focus.
Hear (H) from God in Scripture:
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23–24)
You call me to worship through work—to live as Your steward, not my own savior.
Exchange (E):
“If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?”
Today, I surrender my projects and dreams to You. Let me serve and return them—with open hands, not a clenched ego.
Walk (W) with the Holy Spirit:
Holy Spirit, show me one sabotaging pattern I need to name.
Pray over my biggest goal, dedicating it as a gift to be returned to You.
Tell a trusted friend where I’m tempted to sabotage, and invite accountability, prayer, and encouragement into the process.
Worship Invitation: Stewards, Not Showrunners
When your identity is rooted in God’s acceptance and every task becomes stewardship, sabotage is starved. Worship today by shifting from self-driven achievement to humble, joyful faithfulness—returning everything to God, open-handed.
