The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love From Head to Heart for Christian Professionals.
Last Friday, a high-performing leader sat behind the wheel with Atlanta’s skyline rising on the horizon. He’s a founder, consultant, and someone who runs on vision. But as another week wrapped up, anticipation and anxiety battled beneath the surface. “What if I can’t finish everything I promised?” The weight of leading teams, serving clients, caring for family, and representing Christ sometimes made the drive that fueled his best work feel almost too heavy—especially when value and rest seemed always tied to productivity. Even success left an ache: “Is all my striving really what God wants from me, or could there be more?”
Gospel Rest for Restless Leaders
The greatest transformation for high-capacity Christian professionals doesn’t come through getting more done—it’s found by rooting your identity deeper in God’s unwavering love. Underneath every pressure to prove, there is a God-given hunger for acceptance, peace, and lasting rest that status, acclaim, and productivity will never fully deliver. The Gospel declares that your value, significance, and security are already settled in Christ—not in what you accomplish but in His love for you. As work accelerates or slows (and stress ebbs and flows), returning to this foundational truth is what unlocks clarity, courage, and true rest right in the chaos of impact and unfinished business.
Bold research and Scripture affirm that leaders who intentionally rest in God’s love rather than relentless output report higher satisfaction, lower stress, and more sustained leadership resilience. Only God’s love is strong enough to make rest your foundation, not just your reward.

Daily CHEW—September 12, 2025
Confess
Father, I confess that I want to give into things that feel good for a moment—like a rich meal or sugar rush—but the satisfaction never lasts. It’s Friday, and I’m thankful I have plans that will help me avoid familiar weekend temptations like overindulging. But what’s going on with work? I have a stable career that I mostly enjoy, but sometimes I feel frustrated, unmotivated, or inactive—especially in the slow times after a busy quarter ends. It can be brutal. What’s really underneath all this? Holy Spirit, would You lead and guide me so I can see what’s driving me in these times?
Hear
A Scripture comes to mind:
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge. The Lord is my chosen portion…You hold my lot. I have a beautiful inheritance. You will not abandon me. You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16)
Exchange
If I really believed that You control my life—wrapping all my choices, past, present, and future (even the sinful ones)—into Your loving and sovereign purposes for Your glory and my good, what would change? I would do my work with more contentment and also be willing to take risks, knowing Your presence is always with me. I would seek Your love and presence above all other things. My ultimate security would be in You.
Walk
Today is a short day at work. I choose to walk in the freeing truth that You are with me and hold my life in Your hands. I will tackle one or two quick tasks at work before my doctor’s appointment. I choose not to give in to entitlement but to work as unto the Lord—in freedom and love. Holy Spirit, only You can do this in me and through me.
