The Daily CHEW™

CHEW on God’s Love. Live Transformed. Multiply Hope.

Yesterday morning, I caught myself reaching for my phone during my sacred 4 AM quiet time—not for distraction, but because I was mentally planning my entire day before I’d even finished my Core CHEW. The familiar question “If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change in me right now?” had become so natural that my mind was already racing ahead to the next task. That’s when it hit me: after weeks of practicing the Core CHEW daily, I was ready for something deeper.

Maybe you recognize this pattern in your own spiritual growth—the way a discipline that once felt challenging becomes second nature, how a practice that used to require your full attention now happens almost automatically. Maybe you’ve been faithfully asking yourself the Core CHEW question for days or weeks, and you’re sensing God’s invitation to go deeper. Maybe you’re wondering if there’s more to CHEWing than the 30-second reset you’ve come to treasure.

Here’s what I’ve discovered through my own journey and countless conversations with high-performing Christians: Your longing for “more” isn’t restlessness or spiritual greed—it’s God’s design. When His love moves from your head to your heart through consistent practice, He naturally draws you into deeper rhythms of trust, application, and transformation. The Core CHEW was never meant to be the destination; it’s the foundation for a life increasingly anchored in His love.

When Daily Becomes Natural

The beauty of starting with one simple question is that it teaches your heart to recognize God’s love in real time. But after 7-14 days of consistent practice, something shifts. The Core CHEW question becomes less of a discipline and more of a default—your heart naturally turns to God’s love when stress hits, decisions loom, or ordinary moments feel heavy.

This isn’t spiritual maturity you’ve earned; it’s evidence that God’s love is doing what it always does—creating hunger for more of Himself. When the Gospel moves from information to transformation, it always leads us deeper into relationship with God, not just more efficient spiritual practices.

Seven Signs You’re Ready for Intermediate CHEWing

You naturally think the Core CHEW question throughout your day without setting reminders or forcing the habit. God’s love has become your go-to anchor point during stress, decisions, and transitions.

You want to apply CHEW to specific situations like workplace challenges, parenting moments, or recurring struggles. The four steps (Confess, Hear, Exchange, Walk) feel familiar enough that you’re ready for targeted applications.

You notice changes in your responses to criticism, pressure, or disappointment. While you’re not perfect, there’s evidence that God’s love is actually reshaping your reactions and thought patterns.

You have more capacity for longer CHEWs on some days. While the 30-second Core CHEW remains precious, you occasionally find yourself wanting 3-5 minutes for deeper processing.

You’re curious about community CHEWing or sharing your growth with others. The transformation you’re experiencing makes you want to explore this practice with your spouse, small group, or trusted friends.

Your questions are getting more specific. Instead of general spiritual dryness, you’re wondering how God’s love speaks to your leadership anxiety, parenting frustration, or decision-making process.

You’ve experienced breakthrough moments where the Gospel actually shifted your heart in real-time, and you want to build on that foundation rather than just repeat the same practice.

Making the Transition

If you recognize yourself in 3-4 of these signs, you’re ready to explore intermediate CHEWing. This isn’t about graduating from the Core CHEW—that question will remain your foundation for years. Instead, it’s about expanding your toolkit to meet God’s love in the specific situations where you need Him most.

Intermediate CHEWing takes the same four steps you’ve learned (Confess, Hear, Exchange, Walk) and applies them to targeted areas: morning rhythms, workplace stress, parenting challenges, anxiety patterns, or relationship conflicts. The process remains familiar, but the focus becomes more specific and the application more detailed.

Your Next Step

Join me in this intermediate CHEW focused on spiritual growth and readiness:

CHEW in 3-5 Minutes:

Take three deep breaths—remembering God’s love is present now, celebrating how far you’ve come.

Adore: “Father, You’ve been faithful to meet me in the Core CHEW, and now You’re inviting me deeper into Your love.”

Confess: “What am I actually feeling about this transition? What excites me about going deeper, and what makes me hesitant? Where am I tempted to make this about performance rather than relationship?”

Hear: What truth from Scripture speaks to your readiness for growth?

  • “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)
  • “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18)

Exchange: If I really believed God’s love is faithfully leading me into deeper relationship with Him, how would that change my approach to this next season of growth? I would exchange anxiety about doing it “right” for trust in His patient guidance. I would exchange pressure to perform spiritually for confidence that He’s already pleased with my progress.

Walk: What’s one small action I’ll take this week, trusting His love to guide my growth? (This might be: trying a Morning CHEW tomorrow, practicing a Workplace CHEW during a stressful meeting, or exploring how CHEW applies to a recurring struggle)

Thanksgiving & Worship: Thank God for His faithfulness in your Core CHEW journey and His invitation into deeper practices. Celebrate that growth in His love is His work, not your achievement.

Remember This

Transitioning to intermediate CHEWing isn’t about spiritual advancement—it’s about God’s love meeting you in more areas of your life. You’re not leaving the Core CHEW behind; you’re building on it. Every honest return to God in any CHEW format is still a win, regardless of how “advanced” it feels.

CHEW On This™:

If I really believed God’s love is personally invested in my growth and ready to meet me in every situation I face, how would that change my eagerness to try new CHEW applications, my pressure to do them perfectly, or my trust in His guidance through this transition?

The CHEW system works best when practiced in community. Consider sharing your readiness for intermediate CHEWing with your spouse, small group, or trusted friends. Ask them to support your exploration of new CHEW applications and remind you that God delights in your growth, not your spiritual performance.
