Stretching Your Flexibility Without Losing Your Anchors

The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals

IYou live in a world that constantly demands more flexibility—new strategies, new org charts, new expectations—often with less time and less clarity. As a Christian leader, you want to be adaptable, but not tossed around by every new request or crisis. The tension is real: you feel the pull to say yes, pivot fast, and keep everyone happy, even when it stretches you past what is wise. This CHEW reframes flexibility as a strength that grows best when you stay anchored to the core things God has entrusted to you—your calling, your limits, and your non‑negotiable commitments.

Clarity

Where are you feeling stretched right now—new initiatives, personnel changes, unexpected fires, or shifting expectations from above? Name one place you sense, “I need to flex here,” and one place you know, “If I compromise here, I will lose something essential God has called me to steward.”

Hear

Read Hebrews 6:19 slowly. Scripture reveals that “we have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul,” describing the hope we have in Christ as unshakable. God secures you with a promise that does not move, even as your calendar, priorities, and context shift. God works through that anchor so you can flex wisely without losing who you are in Him.

Exchange

If I really believed God’s love is a steadfast anchor that keeps me secure while everything around me shifts, how would that change the way I decide where to flex and where to stay rooted today?

Walk (30–90 seconds)

Look at today’s or this week’s calendar. On a scrap of paper or in your notes app, draw two quick columns: “Experiment” and “Anchor.” In “Experiment,” write one area where you will consciously flex—try a new approach, adjust expectations, or say a courageous yes. In “Anchor,” write one commitment you will not move—time with God, a key family rhythm, or a boundary around your capacity. Pray: “Lord, thank You that You secure me. Show me how to flex with wisdom and stay anchored where You have called me.” If this is the only thing I do from this CHEW today, it is enough.

With you on the journey,
Ryan
