The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals
You know the feeling of walking toward a key decision with competing voices in your head. On the surface, you are weighing data, risk, and responsibility. Underneath, other forces are at work—your need for Security, Acceptance, Love, Value, Enjoyment, or Significance. When those SALVES drivers stay unnamed, they quietly steer your choices, and you only realize it after the fact. Using CHEW plus SALVES before a key decision is not about becoming indecisive; it is about becoming a leader whose yes and no flow from a heart anchored in God’s love instead of unexamined pressure.
Clarity
Where is your attention, security, or affection drifting as you move toward this decision? Name the pull: “I want to feel safe,” “I want to be liked,” “I want to prove my worth,” or “I just want relief.” Acknowledge which SALVES driver is loudest before you step into the room—Security, Acceptance, Love, Value, Enjoyment, or Significance.
Hear
Read Psalm 139:23–24 slowly. Scripture reveals a God who searches your heart, knows your anxious thoughts, and exposes hurtful patterns so that He can lead you in the way everlasting. God is not distant from your decision; God moves toward you as the One who understands your drivers better than you do and who secures you in Christ even when your motives are mixed.
Exchange
If I really believed God’s love is wise, searching, and completely secure, how would that change the way I name my SALVES driver and move toward this decision today?
Walk (30–90 seconds)
Before your next key decision, pause in the hallway, car, or conference room. Open your CHEW notes and quickly write: “The SALVES driver shaping me right now is because .” Then pray, “Father, You see this driver. Anchor me in Your love and lead me to choose in line with who I am in Christ, not just what I fear or crave.” Then walk into the decision with focused discernment. If this is the only thing I do from this CHEW today, it is enough.
With you on the journey,
Ryan
