The Daily CHEW™-Day 6: Secure in the Storm—The Anchor That Never Moves

Chew on God’s Love. Live Transformed. Multiply Hope.

Scripture Foundation

Psalm 46:1–2
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way…”

God’s love isn’t removed by the storms of life; instead, He becomes more present and sure when everything else shakes. Even if the world feels unstable, your footing in His heart never moves.

Core Theme

Finding security—not in circumstances or control, but in God’s unshakeable presence and love.
SALVES Driver: Security (SALVES framework)

When life wobbles—news shifts, plans crumble, relationships get tense—where is your true safe place? What if it’s not about everything staying steady, but about who stands with you?

Focus Type

Struggle: Addressing times of anxiety, instability, or sudden change; learning to rest in God’s steadfast strength rather than chasing perfect circumstances.

Four-Dimensional Real-Life Application

  • Personal: An unexpected bill or diagnosis sets your mind racing at midnight—where do you run for safety?
  • Coaching: A business leader’s carefully crafted plan derails, and their confidence falters—can success or position really protect?
  • Counseling: A client faces the end of a cherished relationship, feeling lost and exposed.
  • Consulting/Business/Family: A family’s move to a new city leaves the kids anxious and the parents doubting every choice.

Unique Gospel Insight

God’s love doesn’t promise ease but presence. His help is not remote or conditional; it is “very present”—right here, right now. While we often scramble to fix what wobbles, God offers Himself as the refuge who cannot be moved—even when we feel like running or hiding. Our peace starts not when the storm calms, but when we know the Anchor holds.

CHEW On This™

If I really believed God’s love is my always-present refuge and strength, how would that change me when trouble comes?

Real Life Story

A stay-at-home mom learned her husband’s job was in jeopardy. Anxiety and “worst-case” scenarios filled her mind, and the urge to control every detail overwhelmed her. But then a Psalm from her childhood surfaced: “God is our refuge and strength.” She closed her eyes, admitted her fear, and reminded her heart, “Even if everything shakes, He is with me, and He’s enough.” That moment didn’t fix the problem—but it quieted the panic, if only for a few breaths.

Confess

In the last day or two, where have you felt shaken or afraid? Bring to God the moments you scrambled for control or safety on your own.

Hear

Your Father promises: “You are never alone in the storm. My presence is stronger than your worst fear, closer than your next breath. Nothing you lose can take you out of My care.”

Exchange

If I really believed God’s love is my unshakeable refuge, I’d pause in the panic, even briefly. Instead of spinning up solutions, I’d breathe out, “You are here, and You are strong—even if I am not.” Maybe I’d ask for help—or rest when I’d normally sprint.

Walk (Action Step)

When stress or fear hits today, pause—even just for a moment. Place a hand over your heart and whisper: “Refuge. Strength. My Father holds.” Let this pause anchor you, no matter the waves.

Celebration

Every pause to cling to God’s presence—not just solutions—is worth celebrating. Each moment you run to Him rather than frantic fixing is a sign that security is shifting from the “what if” to the “Who is.”

Gratitude & Prayer

Father, thank You for being my true safety—when I feel steady and when I do not. Hold my anxious places, and teach me to trust Your strength instead of chasing control.
Today I thank You for: ___________.
