The Small Wins That Heal: Cultivating Faithfulness in Marriage and Family

The Daily CHEW™

A Real-World Story of Quiet Change

A client, Olivia, used to breeze past the minor moments in her busy home—her husband remembering coffee the way she likes it, her kids sharing laughter after a hard school day. Weeks would go by with “big wins” at work, but a slow erosion of joy and connection at home. Olivia once wondered if anything short of a breakthrough counseling session or grand gesture could really rebuild intimacy when life is this full.

Maybe You…

Maybe your days blur with meetings, meals on the go, and conversations reduced to logistics. You long to reconnect—to feel seen, heard, and valued—but don’t know where you’d find the energy. Perhaps you ache not for drama, but for small moments of laughter, kindness, or being understood… yet those victories feel too minor to celebrate.

Why the Overlooked Wins Matter Most

If we believe the Gospel, it’s not the mountain-top breakthroughs but the mustard-seed moments that create healing and intimacy at home. God’s love delights to work in the unnoticed: the held tongue, the unfailing courtesy, the honest apology over a text. When Olivia started naming one small “marriage or family win” daily—no matter how ordinary—she saw God’s faithfulness multiply. Her gratitude grew. Past hurts softened. Her family’s laughter returned, not all at once, but in a way only God’s patient love could make possible.

Let’s pause for three minutes—even now—with a family win in mind.

  • Breathe: God’s love is with you, right where you are.
  • Adore: “Father, thank You for loving me and my family with a patient, unbreakable kindness.”
  • Confess: What do I struggle to celebrate or notice in my marriage or with my family lately? Am I minimizing, overlooking, or carrying quiet disappointments?
  • Hear: “His mercies are new every morning.” (Lamentations 3:23)
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:7)
“We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
  • Exchange: If I really believed God’s love is steadfast, celebrates the small, and redeems what feels insignificant, how would that change which moments I honor at home, how I express gratitude, or my hope for deeper intimacy and healing in my family?
  • Walk: What is one small win I can recognize or celebrate with my spouse or child today?
  • Thanksgiving Worship: Thank You, God, for not measuring our home by dramatic breakthroughs but by your ongoing, persistent love in every detail.

Remember This…

Growth in marriage and family is rarely instant. Each honest return to God’s love for your home is a win. God delights far more in your presence and trust than your perfection or emotional fireworks.
