The Daily CHEW™
Chew on God’s Love. Live Transformed. Multiply Hope.
Six months ago, I realized I had a problem that no amount of professional success could solve. Despite helping high-performing leaders break through barriers for decades, despite building a thriving practice, despite having a theology degree and years of applying Scriptural truth to counseling, coaching, and consulting scenarios, I kept finding myself operating from anxiety rather than assurance, striving rather than security, achievement rather than adoption. I knew God loved me—I could teach about it, counsel others in it, even feel it during Sunday worship—but somehow that love wasn’t translating into the daily rhythms of my actual life.
Maybe you know this frustration: the gap between what you believe about God’s love intellectually and what you experience emotionally. Maybe you’ve felt the tension of being a Christian leader who can help others find peace while struggling to access that same peace in your own heart. Maybe you’ve wished for a practical, sustainable way to move God’s love from theological concept to daily reality—something that works whether you have 30 seconds between meetings or 30 minutes for deep reflection.
This isn’t about needing more Bible knowledge or spiritual discipline. Research shows that lasting transformation happens when we create consistent, accessible pathways for truth to move from head to heart. The Gospel doesn’t just change our eternal destiny—it has the power to change our daily experience when we create rhythms that help us actually receive and live from God’s love in real time.
Let me tell you the story of how the complete CHEW system transformed not just my understanding of God’s love, but my daily experience of it.
A Day in the Life: Living from God’s Love
First Thing Out of Bed – Morning Anchor
My day starts before the demands hit. While my coffee brews, I spend 2-3 minutes with a Morning Anchor CHEW. “Father, thank You for loving me today—not for what I’ll accomplish, but because of what Christ accomplished.” I ask myself what I need to remember about His love as I face the day ahead, and I take one breath from that secure place. It’s simple, but it sets my foundation before the phone starts buzzing with urgent messages.
5:30 AM – Strategic Transition from Workout
Driving home from the gym, I feel that familiar shift from physical energy to mental preparation for the day ahead. This 10-minute commute has become prime time for a Clarity CHEW—not just spiritual preparation, but strategic preparation rooted in Gospel security. “God, as I transition into planning mode, what pressures or expectations am I carrying? What decisions feel heavy or unclear?” A verse is ringing in my head about God’s wisdom being available: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously” (James 1:5). Then comes the clarity question: “If I really believed God’s wisdom is available to me right now, how would that change how I approach my planning and priorities today?” By the time I pull into my driveway, I’m not just spiritually grounded—I’m strategically clear, ready to plan my day from a place of Gospel-centered confidence rather than anxious productivity.
7:59 AM – Between Client Sessions
Walking to my office between back-to-back sessions, I feel that familiar tightness in my chest—the mental list of follow-ups, the client request that needs immediate attention. I have maybe 60 seconds, so I pause for a Core CHEW: “If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change in me right now?” The answer comes immediately: “I would serve from overflow, not emptiness.” One breath, and I’m grounded again.
11:30 AM – Facing a Difficult Decision
A potential client wants to move forward with a project that doesn’t align with my calling to help Christians get God’s love from head to heart. The financial opportunity is significant, but something feels off. I take 5 minutes for a Decision CHEW, processing the choice through God’s love rather than fear or financial pressure. “If I’m as loved as Jesus himself, how does that change this decision?” The clarity comes: I’m free to say no because my worth isn’t determined by this contract.
2:45 PM – Triggered Moment
A team member sends an email that hits my control issues—they’ve changed something without consulting me first. I feel the old orphan-mode scripts firing up: “If I don’t manage this, everything will fall apart.” Before responding, I pause for an In-the-Moment CHEW. “God, You are with me even in this frustration. If I really believed Your love is sovereign over this situation, how would that change my response?” Two minutes later, I’m typing a curious question instead of a controlling correction.
4:00 PM – Relationship Tension
My wife calls, and I can hear the stress in her voice about our son’s school situation. My immediate instinct is to fix it, but I hear the deeper need—she wants to be heard, not solved. After we hang up, I spend 5-10 minutes with a Relationship CHEW, processing my tendency to offer solutions when love calls for presence. “If God’s love is patient and listening, how can I reflect that tonight when I get home?”
6:30 PM – Evening Return
Before bed, I spend 3-5 minutes with an Evening Return CHEW. I notice where God’s love showed up today (the peaceful decision about the client, the better response to my team member) and where I forgot it (rushing through lunch, feeling impatient during traffic). I bring both the gifts and the gaps to rest in His love, celebrating progress and releasing the day.
Weekly and Seasonal Rhythms
Sunday Mornings – Sabbath Gratitude
Saturday mornings have become sacred. I spend 10 minutes with a Sabbath Gratitude CHEW, worship-centered rest in God’s love. No agenda, no outcomes to achieve—just receiving and celebrating the love that defines me. This practice has transformed my relationship with rest from something I earn to something I receive.
Sunday Evenings – Weekly Reflection
Every Sunday, I set aside 15-20 minutes for a Weekly Reflection CHEW. Instead of just planning the upcoming week, I notice patterns from the week behind—where did I operate from love versus fear? What triggered my old orphan-mode thinking? How did God meet me in the difficult moments? This isn’t naval-gazing; it’s strategic heart work that prepares me for sustainable leadership.
Tuesday Evenings – Leading a Group
Every Tuesday, I lead a Group CHEW with other high-performing men. We spend 10-30 minutes sharing honestly about where we’re struggling to live from God’s love rather than our own strength. There’s something powerful about hearing other successful men admit they still fight the orphan-mode scripts. We process together, pray for each other, and celebrate every honest return to the Father’s love.
Wednesday Family Time – Family CHEW
Once a week, our family spends 5-15 minutes with a Family CHEW. We share age-appropriate ways we’ve seen God’s love during the week and where we need His help. My kids are learning that spiritual growth isn’t just Dad’s job—it’s a family rhythm where everyone gets to participate and contribute.
When Life Gets Complicated
Monthly – Deep Dive CHEW
When persistent patterns surface—like my tendency to work from anxiety rather than trust—I schedule 20-30 minutes for a Deep Dive CHEW. This isn’t crisis management; it’s proactive heart work, addressing the deeper beliefs and wounds that quick fixes can’t touch.
As Needed – Stronghold CHEW
For the really stubborn patterns—like my old control scripts that resurface during high-stress seasons—I use a Stronghold CHEW. This 10-15 minute practice integrates SALVES (Security, Acceptance, Love, Value, Enjoyment, Significance) work with Gospel exchange, addressing not just behavior but the underlying beliefs that drive persistent struggles.
Quarterly – Vision CHEW
Every quarter, I set aside 30-45 minutes for a Vision CHEW, aligning my goals and calling with God’s love. This isn’t strategic planning as usual—it’s asking how God’s love wants to shape my direction, decisions, and dreams for the coming season.

By providing multiple entry points—from 30-second resets to 45-minute vision sessions—you can maintain connection to God’s love regardless of your schedule or season.
The transformation isn’t in having perfect spiritual habits—it’s in having accessible pathways back to the love that changes everything.
