The Daily CHEW™
CHEW on God’s Love. Live Transformed. Multiply Hope.
At my desk in Smoke Rise this past Monday, I found myself rewriting a project proposal for the fourth time—not because it wasn’t good, but because I couldn’t trust anyone else to capture the vision exactly as I saw it. My team was capable, but something deep inside whispered, “If you want it done right…” The irony wasn’t lost on me: trying to control everything was actually limiting everything I hoped to multiply.
Maybe you’ve felt this tension too as a high-performing leader. You built your success by being hands-on, detail-oriented, and personally accountable. But somewhere along the way, the very strengths that got you here became the ceiling that keeps you—and your organization—from reaching the next level. What if the path to greater Kingdom impact isn’t holding tighter, but learning to trust God’s multiplication through others?
Beyond Control: The Heart Behind Our Grip
The Gospel Delegation Framework offers a proven approach: provide clear direction at the front end (10%), trust your team with the execution (80%), and offer meaningful feedback at the completion (10%). But for Christian leaders, this isn’t just a management technique. It’s a Gospel issue that strikes at the core of how we view God’s sovereignty, our stewardship, and the multiplication He designs.
When we struggle to delegate, we’re often revealing deeper beliefs about control, trust, and identity. The 1st Principle Transformation Framework shows us that our difficulty “letting go” usually stems from core beliefs about our indispensability, God’s faithfulness through others, or whether we’re valued for what we produce versus who we are as His beloved sons and daughters.
Scripture shows us a God who delights in multiplication through delegation. Jesus didn’t micromanage the disciples—He equipped them with clear mission (10%), sent them out to do the work (80%), and gathered them back for debriefing and course correction (10%). His confidence wasn’t in their perfection, but in the Father’s ability to work through imperfect, surrendered vessels.
The Gospel Math of Multiplication
Consider the parable of the talents. The master entrusted significant resources to his servants, then went away. No micromanaging. No daily check-ins. Just clear expectations and trust in their stewardship. Those who multiplied what they received were celebrated not for flawless execution, but for faithful risk-taking within the framework they’d been given.
This is Gospel delegation: God works His purposes through imperfect people who trust His multiplication over their management. When we cling to control, we often limit what God wants to multiply through the gifts, perspectives, and creativity He’s placed in others.
But here’s where the Gospel transforms business principles: our identity and security don’t rise or fall with the outcome. Whether our team executes at 70% or 110% of our personal standard, our worth remains anchored in Christ’s finished work, not our organizational performance.
CHEW Reset: From Control to Kingdom Multiplication
Let’s take a 3-minute pause:
- Breathe: Three deep breaths. God’s love for you exists before and beyond any project outcome.
- Adore: Father, You multiply what I surrender far beyond what I could control or micromanage.
- Confess: Where am I holding too tightly? What fears drive my need to control outcomes, people, or processes?
- Hear: Read Matthew 25:14-30, Luke 10:1-20, Ephesians 4:11-16. What does Scripture reveal about God’s heart for delegation and multiplication?
- Exchange: If God’s sovereignty really covers my team’s imperfections and His love defines my worth regardless of outcomes, I would exchange my anxiety about _____ for confidence in His multiplication through others.
- Walk: This week, what’s one area where I can practice the Gospel Delegation Framework—giving clear direction, trusting the process, and focusing my energy on meaningful feedback rather than constant oversight?
- Thanksgiving Worship: Thank God that He multiplies surrendered leadership far beyond what controlling leadership could ever achieve.
Remember: God uses imperfect execution by faithful people to accomplish His perfect purposes. Every act of trust in others is really an act of trust in God’s sovereignty to work through them.
CHEW On This:
If I really believed God’s love multiplies through others what I could never control through myself, how would that change my approach to delegation, team development, and strategic leadership this week?
Practice this rhythm throughout your week. Share these insights with your leadership team or family. When Gospel trust becomes our foundation, Kingdom multiplication becomes our legacy—achieved through the gifts God has placed in others, not despite them.
