The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals

A few months ago, I walked alongside a client named Elijah—a department head in a fast-paced industry—who set a bold vision for his team’s quarter. As the months unfolded, though, every milestone felt painfully out of reach. Each meeting started to feel less like a celebration and more like a reminder of what wasn’t happening. Even though Elijah faithfully prayed with his team and planned every detail, he started asking, “Why isn’t God moving?” In our conversations, his disappointment was real—he wrestled with doubts about his calling and struggled to keep showing up with faith when all his hard work seemed to stay hidden behind the surface.

Gospel Insight: God Works in the Waiting

God’s greatest growth in us often happens below the surface—while we wait, not while we win.
Scripture is saturated with stories of people who had to wait on God’s timing: Abraham and Sarah, Joseph in prison, Hannah yearning for a child, and even Jesus in the wilderness. Psalm 37 urges us: “Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness” (v.3). Paul writes, “Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).

Seasons of slow results are not wasted. They form patience, humility, perseverance, and deep dependence on God rather than short bursts of motivation or visible success. In the waiting, God is shaping our hearts more than our outcomes—and building a faith that endures beyond any quick win. His “delay” is often the very ground where trust, character, and resilience flourish.

CHEW On This™ in 3–5 Minutes: Steady Faith in the Slowness

Confess (C) to God
“Father, I confess I’m discouraged by slow results. I feel stuck, disappointed, and tempted to believe You’re distant or unconcerned. Sometimes I crave quick answers more than lasting transformation. Forgive me for measuring Your work by what I can see right now.”

Hear (H) from God in Scripture
“Father, what Scripture do You want me to wrestle with while I wait?”
“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
“What is true about You in this? Your timing is perfect, Your presence is enough, Your promises never fail.”

Exchange (E) with God

  • Option 1 (Beginner CHEWer):
“If I really believed God’s love for me is as steady as His love for Jesus, how would I experience this slow season differently?”
  • Option 2 (Intermediate CHEWer):
“If I really believed God’s love is active when I cannot see results, how would that change my attitude and energy at work or home?”
  • Option 3 (Advanced CHEWer):
“If I really believed God’s love is patient, deep, and always at work ‘behind the scenes,’ how would that change my striving, my perspective on timing, and my willingness to trust Him now?”

“Today, God, I give You my striving, my impatience, my discouragement, and I take hold of Your steady presence and promise to grow me, even when results are slow.”

Walk (W) with the Holy Spirit
“Holy Spirit, show me the next faithful step when I’m tempted to check out or give up.
Here’s the step I believe pleases You: I will notice and thank You for any small signs of growth or blessing today, and encourage someone else who’s waiting on You.”
“Holy Spirit, if there’s a better step, shift me!”

Worship: A God Who Rewards Faithfulness, Not Just Outcomes

God cherishes your steady trust—He sees every seed sown in faith, every unseen act of service, every prayer no one else notices. Let Him anchor you with hope: your slow season is holy ground for growth, even when only He can see the roots.
