The Gospel Move That Melts Strongholds: Keep Returning to God’s Love

The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals

Jim wants freedom. For years he’s circled battles with anger, shame, and those old familiar temptations. He believes God’s powerful, but what’s missing is the “want” that makes obedience natural. Is it too simple to say: focus on God’s love—really? Isn’t practical change more complicated?

Gospel Insight: God’s Love—Savored Through Relentless Returning—Is the Only Power That Melts Strongholds

God’s love is not just a doctrine or warm feeling; it’s the living, active love displayed in Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. Romans 2:4 says it’s “the kindness of God that leads us to repentance.” When you keep returning—again and again—to savor who Jesus is in his mercy, patience, justice, generosity, and presence, your heart softens. You find yourself loving God, not the idols or escapes that once held you. Obedience flows, healing follows, and clarity comes as a byproduct—not by striving, but by persistently tasting and seeing that God is good (Psalm 34:8). Consistent CHEWing (like a relentless pursuit) throughout each day is how you savor deeper and want more—letting each return deepen your appetite for Christ above all else.

Let’s CHEW on this right now.

CHEW On This™ in 3–5 Minutes

Confess (C) to God:
Father, here’s what I’m honestly feeling: So often I try to grit my way to freedom, yet my heart remains cold. I want to experience your love—the way you really love me in Christ—so deeply that it changes what I want most.

Hear (H) from God in Scripture:
“Father, what Scripture do You want me to wrestle with?”
“It is your kindness, Lord, that leads me to repentance.” (Romans 2:4)
What is true about You in this?
Your love is not soft on sin—it’s persistent, surprising, and always the beginning of real change.

Exchange (E):
If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?

Today, I give You my self-effort and hunger for freedom. I receive Your love—again and again—trusting that as I return, You’ll melt my stubborn places and awaken new wants.

Walk (W) with the Holy Spirit:
Holy Spirit, guide me to the next step that pleases You.
Here’s the step I believe pleases You:
Pause before the next temptation or anxious thought. Take a single minute to meditate on one truth about Jesus’ love (mercy, patience, security, friendship)—not once, but as often as needed today. Build the habit of returning, savoring, and tasting His goodness over and over.

Worship Invitation

Worship is returning for another taste of God’s undeserved favor—not once, but many times a day. Each return moves His love from concept to encounter, shaping what you love, what you choose, and where you’re free.
