The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals
Client Scenario
Michael is a busy professional who tries hard to follow Jesus. He knows Christians should “love God with all your heart” (Mark 12:30), but most days that feels unreachable. More rules or effort haven’t changed his heart. He keeps hearing about “CHEWing on God’s love”—but does focusing there actually make you love God more in real life?
Gospel Insight: God’s Love Is the Only Fuel for True Love
Scripture teaches the astonishing reality: we love God because He first loves us (1 John 4:19). Our hearts don’t transform by sheer effort or self-examination. God’s active, personal love—especially as displayed in Christ—awakens affection and obedience that simply weren’t there before. The daily habit of CHEWing is how belief in God’s love gets from your head to your heart—over and over again. This is the surprise: as we return to, receive, and rest in the love God has for us (the same love He has for Jesus, see John 17:23), loving Him back becomes natural and sustainable, not forced. Let’s CHEW on this right now.
CHEW On This™ in 3–5 Minutes
Confess (C) to God:
Father, here’s what I’m honestly feeling: I want to love You more, but sometimes my heart just isn’t there. I often settle for busyness or performance, missing the wonder of being truly loved by You.
Hear (H) from God in Scripture:
“Father, what Scripture do You want me to wrestle with right now?”
“We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
What is true about You in this?
You are always the first to move—Your initiating love creates every new affection and step of change.
Exchange (E):
If I really believed God loves me as much as He loves Jesus, what would change right now?
Today, I give You my distracted heart and take hold of the promise that Your love is not just an idea—it’s a living power that draws out my real response.
Walk (W) with the Holy Spirit:
Holy Spirit, guide me to the next step that pleases You.
Here’s the step I believe pleases You: Pause before the next task, sit for 2 minutes, and quietly repeat this truth: “Father, You love me as You love Jesus.” Ask for help to believe it deeper each day.
Worship Invitation
Worship flows from awe—not at our effort, but at God’s surprising, active love. Each time you CHEW, you’re returning for another glimpse of His heart, and discovering that loving Him above all else actually becomes possible.
