What’s Driving Me Today? Using CHEW + SALVES Before a Key Decision

The Daily CHEW™
Moving God’s Love from Head to Heart for Christian Professionals

You know the feeling of walking between meetings with your mind already in the next decision. Emails, numbers, and people swirl together, but underneath there is usually one deep longing driving how you see everything—security, acceptance, love, value, enjoyment, or significance. In Saturday’s anchor, SALVES: How God’s Love Meets the Deep Drivers Behind Everything, we named how those core drivers quietly shape your reactions and choices. Today is about a 2‑minute way to pause before a key decision this week and ask, “What’s actually driving me right now—and how is God’s love meeting me here?” so your next step comes from clarity instead of autopilot.

Confess
Lord, I acknowledge that I often move straight from pressure to action without honestly naming what my heart is craving or how Your love is already meeting me in that longing.

Hear
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). God is not guessing about your deep drivers; He has already committed Himself in Christ to meet your truest needs with His own riches, not your self‑management.

Exchange
If I really believed God’s love is rich and sufficient to meet my deep SALVES needs in Christ, how would that change the way I approach this specific decision or conversation today?

Walk (30–90 seconds)
Before your next key decision, open the SALVES Assessment and quickly answer the prompts for how you’re showing up right now on a scale of 1–5. Then glance at the Results tab to see your current top three drivers, and pray, “Father, You see these longings—show me how Your love is meeting me here and how You want that to shape my next step in this decision.” Treat that single, clarified step as enough. If this is the only thing I do from this CHEW today, it is enough.

With you on the journey,
Ryan

If you had to put this into one sentence for today, what would you say God is inviting you to rest in or return to?
