The Meeting Where You Realized You Were Not Actually Trusting God With It

You had prayed about it that morning.

You had told your spouse, sincerely, that you were trusting God with the outcome.

Then the meeting started, and your grip on the outcome told a different story.

C — Clarity — The gap between prayed trust and gripped outcome

Name the meeting. The recent one. The one where you noticed — mid-sentence, or driving home — that your language was trust and your posture was control.

Trust and control cannot both be in your hand at the same time. Whichever one is holding the outcome is the one you actually believe in.

That gap between prayed trust and gripped outcome is where Proverbs 3:26 is aimed.

H — Hear — The LORD is your confidence

This is not a verse to make you let go harder. It is a Father telling you that He Himself is your confidence — that the grip you noticed was a grip on something He was already holding. Stay with what He says: “the LORD will be,” “your confidence,” “keep your foot.” He is the subject of every verb. The outcome does not depend on the tightness of your hand.

“The LORD will be your confidence.” The Hebrew word for confidence — kesel — also means loin, the seat of strength. Your confidence is not a feeling. It is a place He occupies.

“And will keep your foot from being caught.” The picture is a trap on the trail. He keeps you from the trap. You do not walk carefully enough to avoid it yourself.

The verse is not a promise that you will feel confident. It is a declaration that God is confidence itself for the person walking with Him.

Today’s verse to hear:

“For the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.” (Proverbs 3:26)

E — Exchange — The grip is information

The grip on the outcome is not a moral failure. It is information. It is telling you where you still believe the meeting turns on you.

The turn is not to try harder to let go. It is to see the hand that was already holding what you were gripping. Once you see the hand, yours can open.

Because God’s love is the kind that is already holding what you were gripping, how does that change the way you walk into your next high-stakes meeting today — the tightness in your hand, the weight on your shoulders, the outcome you were trying to secure?

W — Walk — Open your hand before the meeting

Before your next high-stakes meeting today, take one minute. Name the outcome you are gripping. Then say out loud: “Lord, You are my confidence. You are already holding this.” Then walk in.

Notice what changes in your hand. Not what changes in the room.
