The Daily CHEW™
Chew on God’s Love. Live Transformed. Multiply Hope.
This morning as I walked through Midtown Atlanta, bag slung over my shoulder, I could feel that tug toward “orphan mode.” I wanted to wow the other Christian business founders I’d be meeting—not out of security in God’s love, but from that old insecurity that whispers, “He hasn’t built a company like they have.” I don’t feel less than, but I do wonder how they’ll view my competence, whether I could actually create impact for them.
If I’m honest, I regret not getting more strategic with my own company, earlier. I poured my CliftonStrengths “Strategic” muscle into everyone else’s breakthrough, but after those long, long days serving clients, there just wasn’t enough energy left to turn inward and build. I worked in the company, not on the company. I don’t live in regret, but mornings like this make me face what it cost to be that busy. Most days, the city’s energy feels electric. But under the buzz is a quiet ache: Am I building something that will last? Or just hustling for another short-lived win?
Maybe you feel it too—whether you’re a founder guiding teams, a high performer chasing deliverables, or a leader answering relentless calls. Outwardly, you’re respected and driven, but there’s this subtle question inside: “Does what I build really matter?” Maybe you wonder if you’re only as good as your last success, or if anyone sees the hard, hidden gaps you carry home. Maybe you see other leaders and think, “They figured out what I missed. I should have been more strategic, more intentional, earlier…” Or you’re so spent by fixing others’ challenges that building your own dream feels like a luxury you can’t afford.
Here’s a deeper Gospel truth:
Our longing for legacy, for significance, and for validation isn’t really about numbers or innovation. It’s about a longing for security and love that won’t fail—even if our business plan does. Every one of us wants to know that our work is seen, our efforts are enough, and our impact lasts. The Gospel gives a better foundation: we’re not orphans scrambling for affirmation or founders trying to “prove” ourselves. We’re secure sons and daughters, received by God, called to create with and for Him—not for our resume, but out of His love.
Pause and CHEW with me:
You don’t need a perfect five-year plan or a new product to come home to God’s love in this moment. Try this practical CHEW—right here, right now.
CHEW (3-5 Minutes)
- Take three deep breaths, remembering God’s love is present now—not earned, never on the clock.
- Adore:
“Father, You love me right now, before anything is accomplished.” - Confess:
What am I truly feeling? Competition? Regret over lost opportunities? Fear I missed my window? Grief for being “too busy” building for others? - Hear:
What Gospel promise do I most need today?- “Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:39)
- “It is finished.” (John 19:30)
- “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.” (Philippians 1:6)
- Exchange:
If God’s love is secure, I would exchange my striving for impact for trust that my significance comes from being His, not from keeping up with anyone else. - Walk:
What one small step will I take? Maybe blocking fifteen minutes to pray and ask God for vision for my own company—or reaching out to another founder just to encourage, not compete. - Thanksgiving & Worship:
Thank You, Father, for loving me before I achieved anything today. Anchor my heart in Your kindness, not my results.
Remember This:
Growth isn’t instant. Every honest return to God’s love is a win, not just flawless execution or big outcomes. He delights in your presence and trust, not in relentless productivity or polished strategy. His love is the only foundation strong enough to build a life—and a company—upon.
CHEW On This™:
If I really believed God’s love is unshakeable, how would that change the way I lead, create, and measure my impact—especially when I feel behind or overlooked?
Return. Repeat. Share.
Don’t walk this alone. Practice the CHEW again, tomorrow—or with a trusted triad. Invite Gospel friends into your “return,” as a way of building a culture of celebration rather than exhaustion.
